A 1999 report by The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) showed medical negligence affects up to one in ten patients in UK hospitals.
It is estimated that nearly a million people have suffered unnecessarily as a result of medical errors by hospital and medical staff.
“The £4-5 million spent each year in meeting claims for clinical and medical negligence reduces funds available for patient care,” the report revealed.
